About
This blog
This page is still under construction. I just wanted to put it out on the net already to prevent perfectionism from delaying the publication indefinitely. The colour-scheme, logos and tags are likely to change.
In the spirit of "Be the change you want to see in the world" this blog is to propagate the beauty of stringent analysis but also of rough estimation. I value such pen-and-paper analyses much more than purely simulation-based ones and want to accumulate and share them. A formal analysis can be verified by a wider audience than something computer-based simply due to the fact that more people have access to a pen and paper.
In the Analyses part I hope to focus on formal analyses, e.g., pen-and-paper calculations and checks. So this blog will be laden with math and physics. But I will also include interesting empirical analyses that will lean towards "data science".
The Estimations part of the blog is a progression of exercises in applying basic estimation that is taught in the beginner courses of physics to various questions encountered in everyday life. This will be a more lighthearted and digestible section meant to keep my mind engaged during downtimes.
The site is built purposefully as a static site using Hugo using the Clarity theme by Chip Zoller (as may be seen via some logos that still remain). It is my belief that the a simple site intended to convey information to as wide an audience as possible should remain as simple as possible. There is no need for fancy animations or side-loading from 5 different domains all over the internet for a simple blog. I prefer my information in plain text and serve it as such, too.
External resources
The only external resource required by this site at the moment is MathJax/KaTeX to render the formulae and apparently jsdelivr.net for the functionality of the search.
